Sunday 6th November - Today we filmed the shots we were planning to do for the beginning and end of our music video of the picture of the couple and the roses. However, we slightly changed our original idea of a hand pushing the vase/roses off the table and then panning to feet running up the stairs as we felt this may not have been a possible shot due to the possibility of the glass vase smashing which therefore could have been a health and safety issue. Also, we felt this shot may have overwhelmed the audience in terms of introducing the main character, Kate and the theme of love vs heartbreak as the series of shots would probably not fit in time before the music started which is what we was trying to achieve as we did not want the soundtrack to intrude on the focus we wanted to create on the scene, we wanted the shot to be in silence.
Therefore, we decided upon simpler shots. The beginning shot being of a complete photo of the couple with roses surrounding it on the table teamed with the subtle lighting to create a calm mood and visually pleasing shot. The end shot was very similar but with the photo torn to give connotations of the couple being split like the photo while in turn linking with the shot at the beginning of the music video while all the footage in between these shots i.e. the remainder of the music video will communicate to the audience why the couple have gone from happy and loving to ultimately heartbroken and splitting up. To confirm this idea we also filmed a pair of hands tearing the photo to amplify the couples troubles.
The photos and screen shots below show you how the shot was set up what props we used and how these shots looked once we uploaded them on to premiere pro and edited them into our music video.
