THE EDITING PROCESS - Development

To formulate our music video we have been using the software "Adobe Premiere Pro C4". This editing software enables us to shoot footage on our video camera and then transfer it to the computer with ease and cut and place together the footage we want.

Below are some screenshots of our work on the software and how it has developed.

The first piece of filming we did was the Piano scene. From this footage we was able to create a basic structure for our music video and build our piece around this structure.

In order for a music video to be successful it needs to catch the audience`s attention from the very beginning. Therefore, for this reason we decided at the beginning of our piece we would use a series of shots of the artist from different scenes featuring in the video in a flash motion, created by speeding up the footage - we believe this created impact and caught the viewers attention instantly which maintains focus and relates to the rest of the video which the audience are still to see. Then after this flash motion sequence Kate (the artist figure) moves her head back and the camera zooms in - all of this fits to the beat of the music which makes the shots even more dramatic, impacting.

This is one of the shots from the puppet scene of Tom cutting the puppet strings which make Kate fall, lose control. As you can see the lighting has worked effectively as it emphasises this action which is what we were trying to achieve. Without the editing software we would of not been able to integrate these shots amongst the performance shots.
