FILMING: Bryan Adams - Summer of 69'

During the Summer Holidays the group got together one week and decided to do some filming for our music video. During these two days which all of the group were free - Tuesday 16th & Wednesday 17th August  we got quite a lot of filming done. We filmed:

The drive in scene with the small toy car and Sian`s television which we plan to place our own film on to which we made last year in Year 12 as due to copyright reasons we cannot just play an existing film on to the TV and film that playing. We will edit on our film on to the TV in the editing process.

We also filmed a more realistic version of the drive in with our friends Emma and Simon. We knew of an isolated farm building. Therefore, we decided it would be a good location to film as the big barn would give us enough space to edit our own film in against the brick wall of the barn and the isolated location would give the scene a feeling of intimacy and connection between two lovers on a date. Also as Simon has a red car this made the shot look more realistic instead of using a toy red car used previously. Emma and Simon are a couple and we felt that using them in this scene would give the video a more realistic feel as the connection and romance already exists which is what we were aiming to create.

Over the two days which we filmed we also managed to film the scenes at the Pavilion. We decided to use this location as we felt it had a nice, romantic set up, again emphasising the feel we was trying to create. We also felt this location had a Summer feel to it, a place where people of 69` would probably hang around with their friends or lover.

In the scene at the Pavilion we used Liam Olley and Ashleigh Gilliott as our actors. No, they are not a couple like Emma and Simon but they live in the village in which the Pavilion is situated (Normanby/Owmby and Emma and Simon do not. Therefore, it was easier to film Liam and Ashleigh as they were able to meet with us when our group wanted to film. We also decided to film Liam and Ashleigh to avoid continuity issues as they look similar to the previous couple Emma and Simon.

We decided to film some cut away during this time also. We wanted cut away that represented a youthful summer. So we came up with the idea of filming a road trip in Sian`s car. We decided this as we thought that many teenagers get away and go on road trips during the Summer period.

Wanting to continue the idea of youth throughout our music video we decided to film Sian`s younger brother and sister playing with their friends in the local farmer`s corn field running around and jumping on the hay bails. With the Farmer`s permission we did this towards the end of the day on the Thursday as it wasn`t far from the Pavilion. All the locations which we filmed over the two days were in close proximity to one another and therefore made it easier for us to film but we also ensured the locations were suitable for what we wanted to achieve.

During this filming period we went through our family photo collections and found a selection of photos which we thought represented Summer and which we agreed would be appropriate to use in our music video to reflect the idea of memories of Summer. The photos we found can be seen below.
